On the bright side of this, there's a couple of silver linings in this, it wasn't EA, it wasn't Star Wars owner Lucasfilm that said you need to lay everyone off or stop paying people basically, but it seems to have been Bitreactor's own decision to perhaps lessen the effects of the game not launching that well. Also, the game has launched well, the game has done very well, and it is believed that there is hope that they can get people back on board and back working at the company and getting a paycheck. That is meant to be, though, not everyone. Even with there being hopes that a lot of people can come back, it's believed that not everyone will be able to do so, as, yeah, it seems that Bitreactor did just run out of money. Bitreactor is a new developer, but not an entirely new studio. It's made up of veterans of Firaxis and other companies. Context Basically, you'd call it a success. What's unfortunate is that we now live in a games industry where you can't even, you're basically expecting layoffs no matter whether you win or lose when it comes to sales and initial response to your launch."
"Therefore, Bitreactor has tried to get ahead of that by furloughing most of its employees with the idea to bring them back later down the line. that is an unfortunate truth of just the way that the games industry is even without pressure from EA or Star Wars you can imagine that the pressure from the wider industry is this will be your debut game but also your last game if it doesn't succeed in the way that you want it to. Now luckily for Star Wars Zero Company it has done well but I don't know if this is still even a good sign for the industry despite the fact that this has happened. People have been furloughed, around 80% of a studio has had to go without a paycheck because of trepidation around launch or running out of money. Now whether you think that's a Bitreactor problem or whether you think that's a problem of the industry, I guess time will tell because we do know that next year Here we're going to see this lawsuit from former co-founder Alison Kelly of Bitreactor go to trial where she basically says that the current founder and CEO pushed her out of the studio and kind of out of the industry as a whole. But that's all speculation for now, we'll see how that goes later in 2027. Have you picked up Star Wars Zero Company yet?
